Is your license plate damaged, peeling, or hard to read? Avoid getting pulled over and fined and get a replacement plate for free!
Here are the steps to get a replacement plate.
- Confirm your plate is damaged or hard-to-read.
- Fill out sections A + C of form MV-46.
- FAQs and Notes:
- Do NOT fill out Section B.
- Registration Plate Style Includes: Passenger, Truck, Antique, Pollinator, etc.
- If you have a personalized/vanity plate or specialty plate, attach a photo of the personalized plate with your form.
- FAQs and Notes:
- Bring your MV-46 form for a police officer to complete section B and determine eligibility.
- Submit your completed MV-46:
- To PennDOT Bureau of Motor Vehicles, P.O. Box 68593, Harrisburg, PA 17106-8593
- Senator Comitta’s District Office, 17 E. Gay Street, Suite 301, West Chester, PA 19380
- Or if you are attending a License Plate Replacement Event hosted by Senator Comitta, her staff will submit your paperwork to PennDOT.
- Once your new plate is received, complete form MV-141, attach the form with your old plate and send to either:
- PennDOT, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, P.O. Box 68597, Harrisburg, PA 17106-8597
