West Chester, Pa. (October 7, 2026) – Plans to continue improving and developing Coatesville’s largest and most visited park got a major boost today thanks to state funding announced by State Senator Carolyn Comitta and State Representative Dan Williams.
Phase three of the Ash Park development plan was awarded $900,000 in funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).
“The new Ash Park is a center of the Coatesville community where children, families, and residents can come to gather, play, cool off, get some exercise, or just enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. This investment will help the city and its partners continue to develop the site, creating more opportunity for safe, healthy outdoor recreation for the entire community,” Comitta said.
“This funding is an investment in the quality of life and long-term vitality of communities in the 74th District. Enhancing parks and recreational opportunities benefit residents in multiple meaningful ways. I’m proud to advocate for these investments and help bring these improvements to our communities,” Rep. Williams said.
Earlier this year, Ash Park reopened with new features, including three renovated basketball courts, a pavilion with a seating area and restrooms, an expanded play and recreation area, upgraded horseshoe pits, and a new splash pad. Those improvements represented the first two phases of a multi-phase master plan for the 9.3-acre park. Forthcoming phases call for a new soccer field, new playground equipment, and an additional picnic pavilion at Ash Park.
The C2P2 grant program is funded by a variety of state and federal funding sources. The Ash Park project was funded through the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
