Coatesville, Pa (October 19, 2026) – More Coatesville-area students will be able to benefit from literacy programs at The Bridge Academy and Community Center thanks to funding secured by state Senator Carolyn Comitta.
“As a former educator, I know that a child’s educational experience goes beyond the traditional school day,” said Comitta. “The Bridge Academy’s programs help ensure that Coatesville area children have access to high-quality educational opportunities outside of the classroom, helping build a strong foundation for future success.”
The grant, awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Education, will support the nonprofit organization’s evidence-based reading intervention programs with new instructional materials, supplies, technology, and assessment tools, as well as nutritious snacks and meals and transportation for students.
“We are grateful to Senator Comitta for her support of literacy and educational opportunities in our community,” said Jordan Crans, executive director of The Bridge Academy. “This $50,000 investment will strengthen The Bridge Academy and Community Center’s literacy programs and help more students build the reading skills, confidence, and foundation they need to succeed.”
The Bridge Academy serves K-12 school children with a variety of age- and grade-specific after-school programming, including academic support, social-emotional learning, leadership building, goal setting, and more.
The community center is currently located at 578 Olive Street in the City of Coatesville and is transitioning to a building at the former St. Cecilia’s School at the corner of 6th Avenue and East Lincoln Highway.
