Oxford, Pa. (September 11, 2026) – Union Fire Company in Oxford has purchased a new vehicle to support its emergency service operations thanks to funding secured by State Senator Carolyn Comitta.
A $50,000 grant secured by Comitta through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development helped the company purchase a new vehicle to serve as its Mobile Fire Command Unit.
“This week we marked the 25th Anniversary of the September 11 attacks, a poignant reminder of the selfless contributions of our firefighters and emergency first responders,” Comitta said. “When we need them most, the members of Union Fire Company are there for our communities. It’s important that we not only thank them for their service, but also ensure they have the tools, resources, and support to do their jobs safely and effectively.”
Comitta said the new vehicle, which will serve as a mobile operations center during major fires, other emergencies, and large public safety events, will help the company manage incidents and maintain a high standard of emergency response.

Founded in 1872, Union Fire Company is the fourth oldest in Chester County. Today, its members provide fire and EMS service to 92 square miles in Southern Chester County, the largest service area for any one company in Chester County. The district includes Oxford Borough as well as East Nottingham, West Nottingham, Elk, Lower Oxford, and Upper Oxford Townships.
