West Chester, Pa. (October 7, 2026) – New courts for tennis, pickleball, and basketball are coming to Exton Park, thanks to funding announced today by State Senator Carolyn Comitta.

The project is funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).

“Exton Park is an important community asset that brings together opportunities for outdoor recreation, organized sports, miles of hiking and walking loops, links regional trails, playing areas for young children, a dog park, and soon, new tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts,” Comitta said. “The park serves tens of thousands of residents in West Whiteland and nearby municipalities. As we see development continue to impact the area, it’s important that we continue to invest in Exton Park as a place for families and children to relax, enjoy the outdoors, get active, and connect with neighbors.”

Exton Park is a 727-acre property jointly owned by West Whiteland Township and Chester County, which acquired it from the Church Farm School more than three decades ago.

Since then, the park has embarked on a masterplan that has included opening of three public multi-use fields, a trailhead for the Chester Valley Trail with modern restroom facilities, the Pennypacker trailhead, picnic pavilions, and more. In addition, the park’s Swedesford Recreation Area features a large playground and zipline, a tot lot, a dog park, a disc golf course, benches, restrooms, water fountains, and parking.

The new sports courts and additional parking area are part of Phase III of the development of the park.

The C2P2 grant program is funded by a variety of state and federal funding sources. The Exton Park project was funded through the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
